Irony ofSuccess It is ironic that Uganda a country that
has successfully struggled with HIV/AIDS with little or no help,
should now find that success being questioned in an article
in the Lancet.

Deadly Embrace: Famine and AIDS in Southern Africa It
seems that the four horsemen of the apocalypse Death, War,
Pestilence (disease) and Famine have come to visit Southern
Africa.Millions
of people are experiencing starvation or the threat of famine
in Southern Africa following poor harvests across the region
|
HIV
epidemic compounded by starvation in ZImbabwe. Mrs Emily
Mudzipurwa is aged 59 and lives in Marange communal area. She
says she is HIV positive. Her husband died 4 years ago. Since
then Mrs Mudzipurwa has been
the sole provider for her 4 children (including one orphaned
grandchild) aged 6 to 15 years.

At
current rates, Africa's populations is set to increase
by 65% over the next 25 years. This means another 400 million
people will need to be provided with clean water and access
to improved sanitation facilities over the next 25 years.
Three times the rate currently achieved.
